A celebration of classic motoring, high fashion, music and culinary culture is set to offer KwaZulu-Natal audiences a distinctly elevated lifestyle experience at Camp Orchards in Hillcrest.
According to Avish Maharaj, event organiser of "Vintage, Vogue and Velocity" the event, which will take place on August 30 from 10am to 3pm, has been curated as sophisticated fusion of classic lifestyle, culture, and high performance, bringing together some of the region’s most compelling automotive, fashion and artistic experiences.
At the heart of the showcase will be a curated exhibition of iconic vintage and classic motor vehicles spanning the 1920s through to the 1980s. For collectors and enthusiasts, the display will offer an opportunity to admire automotive design and engineering from some of motoring’s most celebrated eras.
The event will also put fashion firmly in the spotlight, with live runway showcases featuring local designers presenting vintage-inspired and contemporary high-fashion collections. Among the designers participating is Karen Monk Klijnstra, whose work will form part of the event’s celebration of local creative talent.
Music will provide another defining element of the day.
"There will be live music performances, including a midday performance by the iconic KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, while the Beatroute Jazz Band will bring classic jazz to the event throughout the day. All this will be set against a premium, scenic outdoor backdrop at the stunning Camp Orchards, with artisan food and beverage offerings," said Maharaj.
Maharaj said there is a strong and growing market for this type of event.
"Modern audiences, particularly enthusiasts of luxury lifestyle, automotive history, and local fashion, are increasingly seeking experiential, multi-sensory events over traditional static exhibitions.
"Classic motor vehicles have long been a preferred investment and have given steady returns over the years," he said.
Maharaj added that "Vintage, Vogue and Velocity" aims to tap into that demand by creating an environment where collectors, enthusiasts, families and culture lovers can share the same space.

"Blending automotive heritage with local fashion and live performing arts fills a unique niche, appealing to both serious collectors and families looking for a high-end cultural weekend out.

While the concept draws inspiration from renowned international gatherings such as Goodwood Revival and the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Vintage, Vogue and Velocity is designed to offer something distinctly local.
