For years, football and fashion have existed in their own respective lanes, but when the 2026 World Cup took place, we got a glimpse into a few footballers’ personal style.
One of them was the Norwegian footballer Erling Haaland, who became the internet’s favourite sports personality both on and off the pitch.
Haaland also emerged as an unexpected fashion talking point thanks to his impressive collection of luxury handbags that cost approximately $317 000 (R5 million).
One thing is quite clear, though: the 25-year-old is not afraid to show off his luxury bags, particularly from the Hermès brand, as he is often seen travelling with them.
A look at Haaland’s luxury bag collection
Stepping away from the common Birkin styles often seen on celebrity red carpets, Haaland has carved out his own lane with oversized Haut à Courroies (HAC) pieces.
Originally engineered as the ultimate travel companion, the HAC predates its famous sibling, making it the perfect, practical choice for a global athlete living out of a suitcase.
Hermès HAC 50 “Endless Road” bag: The Hermès ‘Endless Road’ HAC 50 is a limited edition design that features a sweeping, graphic landscape motif with intricate hand embroidery.
The bag is crafted from Togo calfskin and finished with palladium hardware. The footballer opts for this spacious travel bag at $45 500 (approximately R726 000).
Hermès Black and Orange Togo bag: This is also another rare piece that Haaland has been spotted travelling with. It is crafted from Togo calfskin leather and finished with palladium or gold hardware at $33 000 (approximately R532 000).
Evercalf Toile Cargo HAC Birkin 40: This bag is considered an ultra-rare piece that features a utilitarian canvas body and leather trim. The bag combines natural Toile canvas with black leather trim and palladium hardware and goes for $50 000 (approximately R808 000).
HAC Birkin Rock: Similar to the Multi-Pocket bag, the bag is crafted from black Volupto calfskin, palladium hardware and the classic HAC silhouette comes together in a design that carries a subtle rock-inspired edge. It costs $30 000 (approximately R484 000).
Multi-Pocket Togo Leather HAC 50: This supersized, limited-edition Hermès Caban Togo Multipockets HAC Birkin 50 stands out with its multi-pocket details.
Crafted from black Togo calfskin with palladium hardware, the bag's multiple exterior pockets give it a noticeably more utilitarian character and are 50 centimetres wide. It is priced at $56 800 (approximately R916 000).
Kelly Depeches 25: The footballer keeps things sleek with the Hermès Kelly Dépêches 25, a compact briefcase-style bag finished with the house’s signature turn-lock hardware. Understated and sharply structured, it is one of the more discreet pieces in his collection at over $11 000 (approximately R117 000).
Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Tote: The Manchester City player also debuted a “fresh-off-the-runway” supersized bag from Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2027 menswear collection, which costs over $25 000 (approximately R403 000).
The grey features burgundy alligator accents, and he was also photographed carrying a taxidermied raccoon that is sipping from a glass of whiskey priced at $750.
Apart from his rare range of Hermes bags, Haaland's luxury bag collection also includes a variety of collections from brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, as well as Goyard.
