A chance meeting, a private jet and a photograph that goes viral are at the centre of Puseletso Tsotetsi’s latest romance novel, “Everything Will Be Okay”.
The South African storyteller and author returns with her second novel, following the success of her debut, “Good Things Keep Happening to Me", which grew from her popular TikTok storytelling series.
At the heart of “Everything Will Be Okay" is Katlego Phiri, a young creative entrepreneur who returns home to care for her ill mother.
When her laptop stops working, she heads to Incredible Connector expecting a routine repair. Instead, she meets the store manager and finds herself caught in an instant attraction.
Their connection quickly becomes complicated.
“In a moment of vulnerability, she and Mr Incredible spend the night together. A whirlwind romance follows, until someone takes a sneak photograph of them boarding his private jet, which goes viral,” Tsotetsi said when launching the book.
Mr Incredible believes that Katlego arranged the photograph to blackmail him and ends their relationship. Rather than pursue him, Katlego turns her attention to herself and her mother, whose health is deteriorating.
Her friends eventually step in.
“Her best friend, Dintle, and her fiancé, Thato, arrange an intervention so that Kay and Mr Incredible can make peace and face the truth,” Tsotetsi said.
From TikTok to the bookshelf
Tsotetsi’s first novel, “Good Things Keep Happening to Me”, established her as a storyteller who could move an audience from their phones to the printed page.
The romance novel expanded her viral TikTok series “Thato wa Ngwanyana" into a full-length story about healing, second chances and healthy love. Readers who followed the series online will recognise elements of the story, but the novel gives Tsotetsi space to develop the characters and their emotional journeys.
That transition from short-form digital storytelling to books reflects a wider shift in publishing, with creators using established online audiences to introduce readers to longer forms of storytelling.
Tsotetsi has also taken the conversation beyond social media. She has spoken about the book’s success and the process of building a creative brand at literary events including Cape Town’s Open Book Festival.
A storyteller across platforms
Tsotetsi’s storytelling career stretches beyond TikTok and publishing. She qualifies in Film and Television Production and has more than 15 years of experience across media and entrepreneurship.
She spent three years as a radio presenter before working as an offline editor at M-Net. She later built a digital career that brought together storytelling, marketing and film production.
With “Everything Will Be Okay”, Tsotetsi is once again bringing those worlds together.
This time, however, the story begins with a broken laptop and a chance meeting in Johannesburg before taking its characters into the unpredictable world of viral fame, love and second chances.
